The Eight Kingdoms History
During the Dark Ages, the peoples of the Asgardian continent mostly lived in unsophisticated tribes, migrating regularly to follow their prey. Upon encountering another tribe, their options were to engage in battle or flee; prisoners of war were gradually assimilated into their new tribe. Stories were passed down in the form of songs. As a result, genuinely reliable historical sources left from this period are few and far between.
This situation persisted until the invention of writing and the dawn of the Common Era, when conditions finally took a turn for the better.
